The CARES Act temporarily suspended Federal Excise Tax (FET) in March for private jet charters due to the pandemic.  The 7.5% (FET) is scheduled to be back in effect January 2021 for applicable flights.

However, if you book a flight for next year and pay for it now no tax will be added.  Many flights can be booked with a zero percent cancellation policy up until 72 hours prior to departure.  Changes to your flight reservation after December 31, 2020 may result in partial FET for costs over the originally booked amount.
